Illinois Pain Institute is proud to announce that John Prunskis, M.D. has been named a Top Pain Doctor by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. as voted by his peers for the 11th time. Recognition was awarded by peer nomination, with medical professionals submitting their picks for the top specialists in various regions. Upon receiving the nominations in each category, Castle Connolly’s physician-directed research team looked closely at each nominee’s credentials, professional achievements, outcome data, and more to determine their Top Doctor selections.

Much of Dr. Prunskis’ celebrated career has been spent exploring new ways to diagnose and treat the source of pain without reliance on opioid medications. As a member of the Illinois State Medical Society House of Delegates, Dr. Prunskis introduced the resolution that helped create the Illinois Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, through which physicians and pharmacists can view information on a current or prospective patient’s prescription history. Prunskis, MD, FIPP, co-founder and co-Medical Director of the Illinois Pain Institute and Presidential Appointee U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Pain Management Best Practices Task Force (Pain Task Force) has been unanimously nominated for induction into the National Lithuanian American Hall of Fame.  Dr. Prunskis who is an Honorary Consul of Lithuania, will be joining other prominent Lithuanian American Hall of Famers like Dick Butkus, Ruta Lee, Jonny Unitas, Ann Jillian and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

Dr. John V. Prunskis, co-founder and co-Medical Director of the Illinois Pain Institute, Presidential Appointee U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Pain Management Best Practices Task Force (Pain Task Force) met last Monday with Joe Grogan, the President’s Assistant for Domestic Policy.

This meeting was in follow up to the HHS Pain Task Force’s final report that was submitted to Congress in May of 2019.

The two discussed possible solutions to end the current opioid crisis, the advantages of Ambulatory Surgical Centers, as well as, the significant problems that plague Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. EHR has been implicated in higher levels of physician burnout and suicide as well as contributing to the opioid crisis.

Advancements in Regenerative Medicine and current research which was supported in the Pain Task Force report was also discussed.

Dr. Prunskis, who is Hon. Consul of Lithuania, extended an invitation to President Trump and the First Lady to the upcoming Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival in Philadelphia and also invited President Trump to visit Lithuania and considered hosting a visit in Washington D.C. of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.

Plans were made with other White House staff members to have follow up on these and other topics.

Inauguration Ceremony

Honorary Consul John Prunskis M.D. participated at the inauguration ceremony of Lithuanian President. Gitanas Nausėda was sworn-in and assumed the position of President of the Republic of Lithuania on July 12, 2019.

Dr. Prunskis met in Vilnius with influential politicians and public figures from Lithuania, discussed issues regarding domestic and foreign policy.

John Vytautas Prunskis Honorary Consul term renewed

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius has decided to renew duties of Mr. John Vytautas Prunskis as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in the United States of America for another term, starting May 24, 2019.

”We hope that you will continue to actively contribute to the development and strengthening the relationship between the Republic of Lithuania and the United States of America,” the Minister Linkevičius wrote in his letter.
